Moon viewing
Moon viewing on the harvest moon night is the traditional event in Japan.
People dedicate Japanese pampas grass and bun etc to the moon,
and thank the harvest of the year.
But today, Typhoon No. 17 is hitting Japan ....

彼岸花の蕾
Buds of Spider Lily

ウチの彼岸花の開花が遅れてる。
いつもならお彼岸の直前に咲き始めるのに。
気温にはあまり左右されないはずなんだけど、
日照だろうか？ 今年はあまり上にある木の枝を
剪定しなかったから。。。
そう思って昨日邪魔な枝を少し整理した。けど、
台風が来るかもしれないのね。。。がんばれ、彼岸花！

Flower petals of this Dahlia blooming in autumn are double. (though flowers in early summer are single.)
But for abnormal hot days or some other reason, the petals size of this flower are irregular.

盛夏には一休みしていた黒葉のダリア(花は黄色～橙)が
秋になって再び咲き始めました。初夏には一重の花が咲き、
秋、気温が下がり始めてからの花は八重になります。
が、高温が長く続いたせいでしょうか、この一番花は
花弁のサイズが不ぞろいです。

初夏から晩夏まで楽しませてくれた花オレガノ類もそろそろ終わり、
枝葉の新旧交代の時期がやってきました。
今のうちに枯れた枝を整理、半日陰においておくと
根元から新葉が伸びて１０月半ば頃に再び開花し始めます。

タデ科 Polygonaceae ミズヒキ属 Antenoron

今年初めてウチにやって来た。
頂いたレモンバームの土に種が混じっていたらしい。
赤い花の普通の(?) ミズヒキは毎年花壇に出てくるけど。
混稙させると楽しそう。
